“We will be offering free rides to/from the kitchen in DC”

Jose Andres shares the good word from Uber:

“We will be offering free rides to/from the kitchen in DC and more cities soon! Thank you @Uber for joining @WCKitchen and #ChefsForFeds helping to feed our unpaid federal employees during this crisis!”

Also from LYFT:

“Lyft, whose mission is to improve people’s lives with the world’s best transportation, and the United Way today announced the activation of Relief Rides in the DC area for those workers impacted by the ongoing government shutdown. Now through Feb. 2, impacted individuals can contact DC 2-1-1 for a ride code to get two free rides up to $10.*

“We know the current government shutdown is placing a lot of stress on furloughed employees and their families,” said Stephen Taylor, General Manager, Mid-Atlantic, Lyft. “Whether to the grocery store, daycare or doctor’s office, Relief Rides are aimed at helping these families get where they need to go without causing added pressure on their already strained finances.”

The Relief Rides build on Lyft’s ongoing commitment to the local DC community during the shutdown. Earlier this week, the company donated to the Capital Area Food Bank and is providing $20 gas cards to those affected.

*Maximum discount is $10 per ride code. Discount does not apply to tips, cancellation fees, damage charges, or taxes. Limited number of ride codes available. While supplies last.”
