“Pappe on 14th Street is now offering an Indian inspired brunch menu”

1317 14th Street, NW

From an email:

Pappe on 14th Street is now offering an Indian inspired brunch menu from 11:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays.

In addition to the restaurant’s regular menu, Chef Sanjay Mandhaiya has created a Goan Crab Benedict with house-made crab cakes on saffron flavored naan, with poached eggs and a chili-lime hollandaise sauce. ($19)

The restaurant’s popular thali menu now includes a Brunch Thali with tastes of lamb, chicken, egg (the egg dish will change each week to include egg curry or other egg-based dishes), one vegetable dish, choice of daal, raita, pickles, rice, and choice of garlic or plain naan ($21)

The Chole Bhature is a hearty chickpea and fried bread dish made with Delhi style chickpea curry, deep fried bread, raita, pickle, and onion salad ($14)

The restaurant now offers new brunch cocktails, including the Bloody Rasam ($11) an Indian-spiced bloody mary with tomato juice, curry leaf, tamarind, ginger, garam masala and chili. The Highland Khilana, which means blossom in Hindi, is made with scotch, mandarinetto, amaro, orange juice and cinnamon ($13). Finally, a standard mimosa ($9) with either orange juice or grapefruit juice is available.”

Ed. Note: They also have a banging happy hour.

Potomac Harmony is Back! Following a gap year of competing, then virtual rehearsals during the pandemic, followed by the well-earned retirement of our long-term director, a year of a director search, Potomac Harmony hit the regional contest stage in Concord, North Carolina in March for the first time since 2018! It was exhilarating, reaffirming, and rewarding!

The chorus hit all of its goals, the biggest of which was to have fun and sing our best on contest stage — we did both! Because we earned a score over 400 points, our new Director, Allison Lynskey, was awarded the Novice Director award, photo above. Additionally, one of our charter members, Jackie Bottash, was nominated for and honored with the Leadership Excellence award. It was a celebratory weekend!

What’s next? So much! We now look forward to upcoming performances, growing our membership, and expanding our musical product with new arrangements and an education component each week. It’s an exciting time to be part of this ever-growing ensemble!
