District Soul Food Opens on Barracks Row Saturday, Check Out Their Menu

Finally word on District Soul Food‘s opening (in the former Banana Cafe space) – February 2nd.

District Soul Food’s website says:

“District Soul Food Restaurant and Lounge will be providing a unique mix of southern cuisine and live entertainment featuring a selection of delicious soul food and signature cocktails. Owners Craig Parkinson CEO, David Roundtree, COO, Christopher Alston, Chris Everette, and Eddie Reynolds are excited to bring District Soul Food Restaurant to the heart of barracks row in Capitol Hill. Executive Chef John Fearrington (La Residence, True Flavors Southern Diner) will bring a menu strongly influenced by Southern flavors. Our Sweet potato pound cake will be one of the items that is sure to have customers coming back time and time again. District Soul Food Restaurant and Lounge will operate as a restaurant, Cigar Lounge, accompanied with a food truck and catering services for special events.

The owners also recognize the opportunities for offering a curious and knowledgeable staff dedicated to providing exceptional customer service. The location at 8th and G Street, Southeast also features one of the most visible and prominent Corners on Barracks row as it transitions from the transit area around the metro stops south of Pennsylvania Avenue to the more attractive for Block retail area that includes the Marine Corps barracks and series of attractive stores.”

826DC is a local nonprofit that offers free writing programs, homework help, and publishing opportunities for DC students ages 6-18, in our Columbia Heights writing center and in learning spaces across the city.

Paddlestar Galactica helps keep writing education 100% free and accessible for all of our students! It’s also extremely fun.

This year’s games will be Saturday, April 27th, 1 PM to 4 PM at SPIN DC. It’ll be a chaotic afternoon of ping-pong, costumes, terrible Battlestar Galactica puns, and good cheer. We’d love to have you join us!
