Today in Hawks around Town – Meet Spirit A True Peregrine Falcon.

“Dear PoPville,

The photo of the bird with the rat is a hawk, not a falcon. It might be a red-tailed hawk. It is good they are catching the rodents. Please, remind people not to use rodenticide. It poisons the rodents and also the hawks, owls, and even eagles too. We must protect those predators or we open the world’s people to more disease.

Attached is a photo of our Peregrine Falcon, her name is Spirit. Peregrine Falcon’s are the fastest animal in the world. She lives with us at Moccasin Lake Nature Park in Clearwater, FL.”
