TRAFFIC ADVISORY TOMORROW (Wed.) for the 2018 National Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony

“On Wednesday, November 28, 2018, the 96th Annual National Christmas Tree Lighting will take place in the District of Columbia. In conjunction with this event, there will be several street closures that motorists should take into consideration:

On Wednesday, November 28, 2018 the following streets will be closed from approximately 12:00 pm to 8:00 pm:

17th Street, NW between Pennsylvania Avenue and Constitution Avenue, NW
C Street, NW between 17th and 18th Street, NW
D Street, NW between 17th and 18th Street, NW
E Street, NW between 17th and 18th Street, NW
F Street, NW between 17th and 18th Street, NW
G Street, NW between 17th and 18th Street, NW
New York Avenue between 17th and 18th Street, NW

On Wednesday, November 28, 2018, the following streets will be closed from approximately 2:00 pm to 8:00 pm:

Constitution Avenue, NW between 18th Street and 14th Street, NW
15th Street between H Street, NW and Madison Drive, NW (Traffic will still be allowed to flow south on 15th Street from Madison Drive)

17th Street between Constitution Avenue and Independence Avenue, SW
Pennsylvania Avenue, NW between 14th Street and 15th Street, NW
E Street, NW between 14th Street and 15th Street, NW
F Street, NW between 14th Street and 15th Street, NW
G Street, NW between 14th Street and 15th Street, NW
New York Avenue, NW between 14th Street and 15th Street, NW

All street closures and listed times are subject to change based upon prevailing or unexpected conditions.

The public should expect parking restrictions along the street and should be guided by the posted emergency no parking signage. All vehicles that are parked in violation of the emergency no parking signs will be ticketed and towed.”

Potomac Harmony is Back! Following a gap year of competing, then virtual rehearsals during the pandemic, followed by the well-earned retirement of our long-term director, a year of a director search, Potomac Harmony hit the regional contest stage in Concord, North Carolina in March for the first time since 2018! It was exhilarating, reaffirming, and rewarding!

The chorus hit all of its goals, the biggest of which was to have fun and sing our best on contest stage — we did both! Because we earned a score over 400 points, our new Director, Allison Lynskey, was awarded the Novice Director award, photo above. Additionally, one of our charter members, Jackie Bottash, was nominated for and honored with the Leadership Excellence award. It was a celebratory weekend!

What’s next? So much! We now look forward to upcoming performances, growing our membership, and expanding our musical product with new arrangements and an education component each week. It’s an exciting time to be part of this ever-growing ensemble!
