Suspect Sought in Shooting Death of 20-year-old Randall Francis on Benning Road Monday

“Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch seek the public’s assistance in identifying and locating a suspect in connection to a homicide that occurred on Monday, November 26, 2018, in the 1800 block of Benning Road, Northeast.

At approximately 1:49 pm, members of the Fifth District responded to the listed location for the sounds of gunshots. Upon arrival, officers located two adult male victims, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services responded to the scene. The first victim displayed no signs consistent with life and remained on the scene until transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner. The second victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

The decedent has been identified as 20-year-old Randall Francis, of Southeast, DC.

The suspect has been identified as 20-year-old Malik Morris, of Northeast, DC. He is described as a black male with a medium complexion. Morris is wanted on a DC Superior Court arrest warrant for is First Degree Murder While Armed (Premeditated). He can be seen in the photo above.

Anyone who knows the whereabouts of Malik Morris, or who has knowledge of this incident should take no action but call police at 202-727-9099. Additionally, anonymous information may be submitted to the department’s TEXT TIP LINE by sending a text message to 50411. The Metropolitan Police Department currently offers a reward of up to $25,000 to anyone that provides information which leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for any homicide committed in the District of Columbia.
