“What’s most disturbing is that we were likely home when it happened”

“Dear PoPville,

Sometime Saturday afternoon our house in Eckington was burglarized. An HP laptop, Acer aspire laptop, nikon d7100 camera and 2 lenses, plus iPad mini stolen. What’s most disturbing is that we were likely home when it happened- we batten down the hatches when leaving the house and there were no signs or evidence of a break in, just noticed that all my electronics in that room had vanished.

Security camera battery of course died, so we don’t have footage. Find my iPhone located my iPad in the projects on north cap and New York ave and of course the police have no interest in helping as the ‘building is too big’ to search. I also called around to pawnshops, and they say their database of serial numbers this linked to the police department. So, if the police actually input that information maybe that will help. I only care about getting my photos (and ideally files) back. They can enjoy my locked work laptop that’s useless and ancient iPad that’s locked as stolen…

Lastly, seeking suggestions on creating a fortress. We were quoted 11-16k for a garage door, which seems really high. Any and all advice welcome!”

For many remote workers, a messy home is distracting.

You’re getting pulled into meetings, and your unread emails keep ticking up. But you can’t focus because pet hair tumbleweeds keep floating across the floor, your desk has a fine layer of dust and you keep your video off in meetings so no one sees the chaos behind you.

It’s no secret a dirty home is distracting and even adds stress to your life. And who has the energy to clean after work? That’s why it’s smart to enlist the help of professionals, like Well-Paid Maids.
