Thought you should report on this senseless killing of a family man in NE last week.

He was the husband of the long-time, beloved pre-k teacher at Stoddert Elementary. A go fund me has been started to support the family as well.”

“Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch are investigating a fatal stabbing that occurred on Tuesday, October 9, 2018, in the 3700 block of Minnesota Avenue, Northeast.

At approximately 10:37 pm, members of the Sixth District were flagged down at the listed location for a stabbing. Upon arrival, members located an adult male suffering from a stab wound. DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services were summoned to the scene and transported the victim to a local hospital. After all lifesaving efforts failed, the victim was pronounced dead.

The decedent has been identified as 53 year-old Curtis Barnum, of Southeast, DC.

Further investigation revealed that the decedent’s vehicle was taken following the stabbing at the listed location. Officers were patrolling the area, when they observed the suspect driving the vehicle. Officers activated their emergency equipment and a vehicle pursuit ensued, however, the suspect made good on his escape.

On Wednesday, October 10, 2018, 42 year-old Antione Little of Southeast, DC, was arrested and charged with First Degree Murder (Felony Murder).”
