“the police officer I spoke to today did confirm that they’ve seen an increase in this type of crime in the area, though he didn’t have any explanations as to why.”

“Dear PoPville,

My car has been broken into twice recently – once in mid-July, and once this week, all around the intersection of 12th/South Carolina/C Sts SE. The first time we were just a part of a larger rash of break-ins with broken windows; at least three cars on South Carolina and two on C all got hit in the same time frame.

This time, we didn’t spot anybody else who got hit. We didn’t lose anything of value either time because we don’t keep anything in our car – but wanted to put this out to the group to see if anyone else has been a victim of this or seen anything suspicious, or has any other info or tips for avoiding this type of crime in the area. For what it’s worth, the police officer I spoke to today did confirm that they’ve seen an increase in this type of crime in the area, though he didn’t have any explanations as to why.”

Potomac Harmony is Back! Following a gap year of competing, then virtual rehearsals during the pandemic, followed by the well-earned retirement of our long-term director, a year of a director search, Potomac Harmony hit the regional contest stage in Concord, North Carolina in March for the first time since 2018! It was exhilarating, reaffirming, and rewarding!

The chorus hit all of its goals, the biggest of which was to have fun and sing our best on contest stage — we did both! Because we earned a score over 400 points, our new Director, Allison Lynskey, was awarded the Novice Director award, photo above. Additionally, one of our charter members, Jackie Bottash, was nominated for and honored with the Leadership Excellence award. It was a celebratory weekend!

What’s next? So much! We now look forward to upcoming performances, growing our membership, and expanding our musical product with new arrangements and an education component each week. It’s an exciting time to be part of this ever-growing ensemble!
