Heads Up – More Action on the Red Line and all the planned Metro Track Work this Weekend

“Summary of Metrorail weekend service changes for Saturday, September 15 & Sunday, September 16:

Green Line trains operate regular weekend service
Free shuttle buses replace Red Line trains between Twinbrook and Medical Center
Orange, Silver, Blue and Yellow Line trains operate every 26 minutes all day Saturday and after 10PM Sunday

Red Line
Buses replace trains between Medical Center and Twinbrook

Red Line trains will operate regular weekend intervals between Shady Grove & Twinbrook and Medical Center & Glenmont.

Free shuttle buses will operate between Twinbrook, White Flint, Grosvenor-Strathmore and Medical Center. Please allow an additional 10 minutes travel time per station stop.

Stations closed: White Flint and Grosvenor-Strathmore.

Last Trains: To accommodate shuttle bus connections, the last Twinbrook-bound Red Line train will depart Shady Grove and Rockville stations 28 minutes earlier than normal on Saturday and 25 minutes earlier than normal on Sunday.

Work performed: Rail maintenance and fastener renewal.

Tap your SmarTrip card each time you enter and exit the Metrorail system. Riders traveling through the work zone will be charged for a single, continuous trip.

Orange Line
Trains every 26 minutes all day Saturday & Sunday after 10PM

All day Saturday and Sunday, 10:00 p.m. until closing, single tracking between Clarendon and East Falls Church to allow for installation of cable/communication equipment to support cellular service in tunnels and new radio system.

On Sunday, from system open until 10:00 p.m., Orange line trains operate regular weekend service.

Silver Line
Trains every 26 minutes all day Saturday & Sunday after 10PM

All day Saturday and Sunday, 10:00 p.m. until closing, single tracking between Clarendon and East Falls Church to allow for installation of cable/communication equipment to support cellular service in tunnels and new radio system.

On Sunday, from system open until 10:00 p.m., Silver Line trains operate regular weekend service.

Blue Line
Trains every 26 minutes all day Saturday & Sunday after 10PM

All day Saturday and Sunday, 10:00 p.m. until closing, Blue Line trains operate every 26 minutes to coordinate with rebuilding on Orange and Yellow lines.

On Sunday, from system open until 10:00 p.m., Blue Line trains operate regular weekend service.

Yellow Line
Trains every 26 minutes all day Saturday & Sunday after 10PM, Huntington to Mt Vernon Sq. only

All day Saturday and Sunday, 10:00 p.m. until closing, single tracking between L’Enfant Plaza and Pentagon City to allow for grout pad, fastener and stud renewal.

Customers traveling to/from stations north of Mt. Vernon Sq. must use the Green Line.

On Sunday, from system open until 10:00 p.m., Yellow Line trains operate regular weekend service, Huntington to Fort Totten.

Potomac Harmony is Back! Following a gap year of competing, then virtual rehearsals during the pandemic, followed by the well-earned retirement of our long-term director, a year of a director search, Potomac Harmony hit the regional contest stage in Concord, North Carolina in March for the first time since 2018! It was exhilarating, reaffirming, and rewarding!

The chorus hit all of its goals, the biggest of which was to have fun and sing our best on contest stage — we did both! Because we earned a score over 400 points, our new Director, Allison Lynskey, was awarded the Novice Director award, photo above. Additionally, one of our charter members, Jackie Bottash, was nominated for and honored with the Leadership Excellence award. It was a celebratory weekend!

What’s next? So much! We now look forward to upcoming performances, growing our membership, and expanding our musical product with new arrangements and an education component each week. It’s an exciting time to be part of this ever-growing ensemble!
