“Bird Helps DC Commuters Impacted by Red Line Shutdown”

From a Bird spokesperson:

“Bird announced it is helping commuters impacted by the Red Line shutdown in D.C. by setting up “nests” of electric scooters at the Brookland and Rhode Island Avenue metro stations.

Helping people get around town more easily is one of Bird’s top priorities. And with the 45-day closure of part of the Red Line, Metro riders need more options to ensure their commutes aren’t disrupted and they’re able to get to where they’re going without delays.

This is one way that Bird can complement Metro and contribute to the District’s transportation network.

Bird has a total of six “nests” set up with three at the Brookland station and three at the Rhode Island Avenue station. Each nest consists of three scooters and there will be a total of 18 scooters for the launch of this relief effort. As demand grows at each station, Bird will increase supply and work to do its part to help as many commuters as possible.”
