“Dear PoPville,
I am trying to get a Rally Bus trip confirmed for the Dispatch concert at Merriweather Post Pavilion on Saturday, July 21. If you aren’t familiar with Rally Bus, it’s a “crowdpowered” bus service that connects riders going to the same event and takes them there and back. Each rider purchases a seat on the bus, however there is a minimum threshold of riders needed in order for a trip to get confirmed. If the trip doesn’t get confirmed, you are notified a few days in advance and you get your money back.
My husband and I use Rally Bus for every concert we attend at Merriweather and it’s awesome.
You don’t have to deal with traffic, parking, or designated drivers. The bus picks you up at the one of the specified locations (usually Dupont metro or Union Station but varies by event), gets you to the show well in advance of the start (and hangs out in the tailgate lot) and departs 45 minutes after the show ends. The buses are all well maintained commercial carriers with bathrooms on board, and the drivers are a blast. You can bring food and drinks (including alcohol) on board. Pro tip: bring a cooler, which you can leave on the bus, and pack extra food and drinks for the way back.
For some reason the Dispatch crowd doesn’t seem to be familiar with Rally Bus as our trip still needs 20 riders in order to get confirmed. It would be great if you could spread the word! Here’s the link to book the ride.“

Come solve a crime that took place in Takoma Park 130 years ago!
HouseMouse Books and Vintage is excited to announce the debut of Escape the Bookshop II, our new limited-run escape room experience. Escape the Bookshop II is a unique group puzzle game that is based on a real crime that took place in Takoma Park around 130 years ago. It is designed and created by HouseMouse to be played in our atmospheric little bookshop. This is not your typical corporate escape room and makes for a memorable evening out with friends or family!
Bookings are now open for game dates in January through April 2024. The game generally takes place Wednesday through Saturday at 8 PM but special arrangements can be made upon request. It is designed to be played by a group of 3 to 6 people (ages 16+) and lasts for one hour. No prior escape room experience is needed to enjoy the game.
