“We are also restarting the Friends of Meridian Hill group” Clean Up Saturday

“Dear PoPville,

I was wondering if you could please post about a volunteer cleanup/”revitalization” event we are having this Saturday in Meridian Hill Park. We are hoping to hold these events the third Saturday of every month, from 10 am – 1 pm, since a lot of the upkeep is needed on a consistent basis.

The event is run through Washington Parks and People, who have an existing relationship with the National Park Service.

We are also restarting the Friends of Meridian Hill group. Here is a short bio from our new Facebook page:

Meridian Hill/Malcolm X Park is a staple to the neighborhoods surrounding it in Northwest Washington, DC. As a National Park, it relies on volunteers to help maintain and beautify the space for all to enjoy. The Friends of Meridian Hill is a community group that seeks to bring together community partners and volunteers with the goal of park revitalization, providing the upkeep the park deserves. We welcome volunteers, members, donors, and partners of all kinds. “Like” our page to keep up-to-date on future volunteer events or message us for more information on becoming involved or just to provide feedback on the park!”
