“After the addition of the Homer Simpson blow up doll in the attic, the property was re-released to the Spring market at a higher price and went under contract in 9 days.”

Good Deal or Not Revisited (GDoN-R) is a weekly post that reviews the settled sales data of a recent individual real estate transaction in the District of Columbia. Each post is intended as a case study and a snapshot of the real estate market at a particular moment in time. GDoN-R generally posts on Friday in the late morning.

GDoN-R has been written exclusively for PoPville since 2009 by Suzanne Des Marais. Suzanne is a practicing Realtor with Compass. Unless specifically noted, neither she nor the company that she is affiliated with represented any of the parties or were directly involved in the transaction reported below. Unless otherwise noted, the source of information is Bright MLS, which is the local multiple listing system and/or Smartcharts by Showingtime. Information is deemed reliable but not guaranteed.

The property listed in January for $895,000., and was swiftly removed from the market 8 days later. You can see the “Before” pics, including the giant bug sculpture mentioned in the original GDoN comments, here.

After a bit of a makeover (fresh neutral paint, backsplash, appliances, refinished floors), and the addition of the Homer Simpson blow up doll in the attic, the property was re-released to the Spring market at a higher price and went under contract in 9 days.

It’s not unusual to see list prices ending in odd numbers. The Buyer apparently has a good sense of humor, paying $1. shy of $951,000.

It’s just this kind of market right now.

The listing agent for this transaction was Jami Dennis with RE/MAX Realty Centre, Inc. Kevin White with RE/MAX Enterprise, represented the Purchaser.

For many remote workers, a messy home is distracting.

You’re getting pulled into meetings, and your unread emails keep ticking up. But you can’t focus because pet hair tumbleweeds keep floating across the floor, your desk has a fine layer of dust and you keep your video off in meetings so no one sees the chaos behind you.

It’s no secret a dirty home is distracting and even adds stress to your life. And who has the energy to clean after work? That’s why it’s smart to enlist the help of professionals, like Well-Paid Maids.
