“Rock ‘n Roll Marathon to Bring Parking Headaches to Adams Morgan (and all over D.C.) this Saturday”

This Saturday, the police will be towing all cars parked along the route of the United Airlines Rock ‘r Roll Marathon in Adams Morgan, a member of Advisory Neighborhood Commission (ANC) 1C/Adams Morgan said at a regularly-scheduled monthly meeting last night (March 7)

Commissioner Wilson Reynolds (District 07) announced the “not happy” news that the route of the marathon must be clear of cars by 7am this Saturday (March 10) or the Metropolitan Police Department will start towing along both sides of Calvert Street and Columbia Road.

Wilson said he had attempted to work with the police to avoid this outcome, since it is unreasonable to ask all people in a densely-populated neighborhood like Adams Morgan to move their cars.

“Obviously, they just blew us off,” Reynolds said.

A representative from the office of Mayor Bowser told the ANC that DC City Councilmember Charles Allen had been working with the police that day to have the requirement that the streets be clear of cars suspended for streets of residentially-zoned properties in Ward Six. It was pointed out that this policy, even if it were extended to Adams Morgan in Ward One, probably would not help local residents, as the Adams Morgan streets through which the marathon would pass are main roads with frequent commercially-zoned properties.
It was clearly too late to do anything about parking during this year’s Roll ‘n Roll Marathon, but members of the community suggested that the lesson of this year should be remembered for next year, when the Marathon representatives appeared before the ANC to ask for support.

“Basically, please tell your neighbors this is coming,” Wilson said.

Ed. Note: Full traffic advisory for all of D.C. below.

“The Metropolitan Police Department wishes to advise the public that the 2018 Rock ‘N’ Roll Marathon is scheduled to be held on Saturday, March 10, 2018. In order to facilitate this event there will be no vehicular traffic allowed along the routes of the race.

The race is scheduled to begin at approximately 7:30 am; however some street closures will begin as early as 2:00 am. All streets affected by this event are expected to be reopened at approximately 3:00 pm.

The public should expect parking restrictions along the entire marathon route and should be guided by the posted emergency no parking signage. The public should also expect enforcement of these parking restrictions which may include ticketing and towing along the entire marathon route.

For many remote workers, a messy home is distracting.

You’re getting pulled into meetings, and your unread emails keep ticking up. But you can’t focus because pet hair tumbleweeds keep floating across the floor, your desk has a fine layer of dust and you keep your video off in meetings so no one sees the chaos behind you.

It’s no secret a dirty home is distracting and even adds stress to your life. And who has the energy to clean after work? That’s why it’s smart to enlist the help of professionals, like Well-Paid Maids.
