Fundraiser Launched for Daughter of Man Killed in Park Road Shooting: “That was Dre, good good people.”

Andre Junior and family via gofundme

“Dear PoPville,

Last week you posted the story regarding the Thursday afternoon shooting on Park Road that resulted in the murder of my friend Andre Junior. In the past week, a lot of people have asked how they could help so a group of his college friends banded together to start a campaign to raise money for his young daughter’s future education. Dre’s widow did not ask for help, but we all felt compelled to do something to help our fallen friend.”

The gofundme says:

“Andre Junior (affectionately known as Dre) was lost to us on March 15th, 2018. He was 43 years old. He leaves behind his beautiful wife and best friend, Ericka, and his loving daughter, Ava Junior.

Born and raised in Allendale, South Carolina, Dre was a graduate of Dartmouth College and was loved by fellow students, faculty and administrators alike. This son of Dartmouth had a razor sharp intellect, beautiful smile and easygoing personality. It’s telling that many of his friends from all points of his life remembered him as “good people”. That was Dre, good good people.

As we reflect on our memories of Dre, we also cast our gaze ahead to band our hands together to support his beautiful daughter. This GoFundMe campaign will raise funds that will be contributed towards a 529 Education Plan for Ava.

Ericka and Dre have always made Ava’s education a priority and as a community, we want to help ensure that Ericka’s and Dre’s dream is realized with Ava continuing along the path that Dre and Ericka started together. We call upon you and this amazing community of family, friends, and fellow alumni, known and unknown, to help us raise $10,000 to fund Ava’s future education.

We celebrate Dre’s life and thank him for so many wonderful memories. In the words of Dr. Seuss “Don’t cry because it’s over, smile because it happened.”
