“Here is a summary of Metrorail service changes on Saturday, November 18, and Sunday, November 19, to allow for safety and reliability maintenance work:
Highlights
Orange, Blue, Yellow and Green line trains every 24 minutes
Silver Line trains every 24 minutes between Wiehle-Reston East and Ballston
Free shuttle buses replace Red Line trains between Medical Center and Grosvenor
Red Line
Buses replace trains between Medical Center & Grosvenor
Red Line trains will operate at regular weekend intervals (12-15 minutes) between Shady Grove & Grosvenor and every 10 minutes between Medical Center & Glenmont.
Free shuttle buses will operate between Medical Center and Grosvenor-Strathmore. Please allow 10 minutes of travel time for each station stop.
To allow for shuttle bus connections, the last trains will depart:
Shady Grove at 11:45 p.m. Saturday, 9:45 p.m. and Sunday (40 minutes earlier than normal).
Glenmont at 12:33 a.m. Saturday, and 10:33 p.m. Sunday (regular time).
Work performed: Rail tie and grout pad renewal, joint elimination and leak mitigation.
Tap your SmarTrip card each time you enter and exit the Metrorail system. Riders traveling through the work zone will be charged for a single, continuous trip.
Orange Line
Trains every 24 minutes
Single tracking between Foggy Bottom & Clarendon to allow for rail, fastener and cover board renewal.
Silver Line
Trains every 24 minutes – Wiehle-Reston East to Ballston
Silver Line trains will operate between Wiehle-Reston East and Ballston only. Customers traveling to/from other stations should use Orange and/or Blue line trains to complete their trip. At Ballston, transfer between Silver and Orange line trains on the same platform.
Blue Line
Trains every 24 minutes
Single tracking between Foggy Bottom & Arlington Cemetery to allow for rail, fastener and cover board renewal.
Yellow Line
Trains every 24 minutes – Huntington to Mt Vernon Square
Single tracking between L’Enfant Plaza & Mt Vernon Square to allow for radio cable installation on tunnel walls for cell phone service.
Customers traveling to/from stations north of Mt Vernon Square should use the Green Line to complete their trip.
Green Line
Trains every 24 minutes
Single tracking between L’Enfant Plaza & Mt Vernon Square to allow for radio cable installation on tunnel walls for cell phone service.”
