Deceased American Racing pigeon, “King Lou”, found in Trinidad

I noticed this pigeon last week returning to the same front yard in the Trinidad neighborhood every morning. I wouldn’t usually pay attention to a pigeon but you don’t usually see them on a residential street. This pigeon had very distinctive and pretty feathers and a few days after my first encounter, I noticed the band on its leg and assumed it was someone’s pet. Sadly, this morning on the way to drop off my kids, I encountered the dead pigeon under a tree on the corner of Neal Street And West Virginia Avenue NE . I tried to find the owner from the info on the band, but I couldn’t come up with the relevant information. Despite the sadness of the news, I thought the owner would want to know.”
