Winter(ish) is coming.

From a press release:

“The Capitol Riverfront Business Improvement District is pleased to announce the opening of the Canal Park Ice Rink for the 2017-2018 Winter Season in mid-November. Canal Park Ice Rink remains the only ice rink in the city with a unique figure-eight skate path and half a block from a metro stop. The Canal Park dancing water jets will be turned off by October 31st to permit ice rink construction, and the ice rink will open as soon as construction is complete.

The grand opening celebration is set for Friday, November 17th from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm, but the rink will be open regular hours that day as well.

The opening celebration, hosted by Tri-State Management and the Capitol Riverfront BID, will include live music, a skating performance, light display, concessions from neighborhood retailers and more. The Holiday Tree Lighting celebration at the ice rink will take place on Friday, December 1st-details to be announced.

New rink operator Tri-State Ice Management will be revitalizing and bolstering the programming at the ice rink. The Tri-State team touts experience managing notable rinks in the region at Pentagon Row Town Center, Glen Burnie Town Center and Rockville Town Center. As part of new management improvements, the rink will have an entire inventory of new and improved skates that guarantee sharpness throughout the season.
