Benefit for Fabian Malone

Tuesday October 10 at Dino’s Grotto

5pm ’til close!

Fabian Malone has been a part of the Dino and Dino’s Grotto family for almost 5 years. When our Bar Manager at the time decided to leave, Fabian happened to walk in and apply for a job. His personality plus his drink making skill led to my offering him a job on the spot! Perhaps that drink making skill had something to do with my decision!!

When we opened the Grotto, Fabian was a key element of our team. And even when he left the Grotto to pursue other opportunities, he remained close and often filled in when we needed help. This year, he rejoined us on a part time basis and we are glad to have him back.

One recent evening, when he was walking home, he was accosted by a group who demanded money. Fabian didn’t have any to hand over and one of the men shot him in the arm, twice. We learned of this in true Fabian fashion, via HIS Facebook post. He posted again on Facebook after his surgery and on his release! He is that kind of guy: nothing gets in his way!

Unfortunately, the challenges he faces now include an inability to work as well as medical and other expenses. So we are trying to help Fabian so he can keep moving on in life. Tuesday, October 10, we will be holding a fund raiser for Fabian. Here is how you can help:
Come to the Grotto Tuesday October 10 from 5 ’til close. We will donate 33% of all our liquor, beer and wine sales that night if you dine upstairs or in the Grotto Bar.

From 5 ’til 7 in the Grotto Bar, during Happy Hour, we suggest you pay full price and we will donate the difference in addition! Tuesday is our Half Price Burger night and again, we will donate the difference if you come in and pay half price! So not only can you do good, but you can also eat and drink well too!

If you can’t be at the Grotto, or you want to do more, then you can make a donation that we will pass along to Fabian. And to spur you along, if you donate $50 we will send you a $10 gift certificate, and a $100 donation gets you a $25 gift certificate. We are not a 503-c charity so your gifts will not be tax deductible but on the other hand, all of the proceeds will go to Fabian. Your gift will have a handling charge to cover the credit card fee.

Here is the link for donating.

Thanks for the support.”

This year’s games will be Saturday, April 27th, 1 PM to 4 PM at SPIN DC. It’ll be a chaotic afternoon of ping-pong, costumes, terrible Battlestar Galactica puns, and good cheer. We’d love to have you join us!
