“Weekend service adjustments August 26-27 for scheduled maintenance

Advisory Effective: 8/25/17 – 8/27/17

Maintenance work over the weekend of August 26-27 to keep trains operating safely and reliably.

Highlights

Yellow and Green line trains operate regular weekend service
Red Line trains will operate regular weekend service all day Saturday and after 2:00 p.m. on Sunday
Buses replace trains between Foggy Bottom and Federal Triangle, see below for details
Silver Line trains operate regular weekend intervals between Wiehle-Reston East and Ballston

Red Line
Regular weekend service.
Sunday from open until 2:00 p.m. buses replace trains between Grosvenor and Twinbrook to allow for a full scale safety exercise at White Flint. Red Line trains will operate every 15 minutes between Shady Grove & Twinbrook and between Grosvenor & Glenmont.

Orange Line
Buses replace trains between Foggy Bottom & Federal Triangle | 7:00AM Saturday until closing Sunday.

Orange Line trains will operate at regular weekend intervals between Vienna & Foggy Bottom and between Federal Triangle & New Carrollton.

Free shuttle buses will operate on two routes:

Local will operate between Foggy Bottom and Federal Triangle making intermediate stops at Farragut West, McPherson Square and Metro Center. Please allow 10 minutes of travel time for each station stop.
Limited will operate between:
Foggy Bottom to Metro Center (20 minutes),
Metro Center to Federal Triangle (10 minutes)
Federal Triangle to Foggy Bottom (15 minutes).

Stations closed: Farragut West, McPherson Square and Metro Center (lower level)

To allow for shuttle bus connections, the last trains will depart:

Vienna at 11:49 p.m. Saturday and 9:52 p.m. Sunday (29 & 26 minutes earlier than normal).
New Carrollton at 12:20 a.m. Saturday and 10:20 p.m. Sunday (14 minutes earlier than normal).

Tap your SmarTrip card each time you enter and exit the Metrorail system. Riders traveling through the work zone will be charged for a single, continuous trip.

Silver Line
Regular weekend intervals between Wiehle-Reston East and Ballston only | 7:00AM Saturday until closing Sunday.
Silver Line trains will operate between Wiehle-Reston East and Ballston only to coordinate with work on the Orange and Blue lines. Customers traveling to/from other stations should use Orange and Blue line trains to complete their trip. At Ballston, transfer between Silver and Orange Line trains on the same platform.

Blue Line
Buses replace trains between Foggy Bottom & Federal Triangle | 7:00AM Saturday until closing Sunday.

Blue Line trains will operate at regular weekend intervals between Franconia-Springfield & Foggy Bottom and between Federal Triangle & Largo Town Center.

Free shuttle buses will operate on two routes:

Local will operate between Foggy Bottom and Federal Triangle making intermediate stops at Farragut West, McPherson Square and Metro Center. Please allow 10 minutes of travel time for each station stop.
Limited will operate between:
Foggy Bottom to Metro Center (20 minutes),
Metro Center to Federal Triangle (10 minutes)
Federal Triangle to Foggy Bottom (15 minutes).
