A Man Has Been Arrested in the Shooting of a 1 Year Old near H Street, NE – 2nd Suspect Still Wanted

“Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s First District announced an arrest has been made in an Assault with a Dangerous Weapon (Gun) offense that occurred in the 1300 block of I (“Eye”) Street, Northeast, on Monday, July 10, 2017.

At approximately 8:58 pm, officers responded to the listed location for the sounds of gunshots. Upon arrival, officers found a juvenile male suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. The victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

On Tuesday, July 18, 2017, pursuant to a DC Superior Court arrest warrant, 39 year-old Derrick Damon Watson of Northeast, DC, was arrested and charged with Assault with a Dangerous Weapon (Gun).

Additionally, the Metropolitan Police Department seeks the public’s assistance in locating a second suspect who is wanted in connection with this offense. The suspect has been identified as 27 year-old Saheed Aluwatoyin Washington Sulu of Southeast, DC, and can be seen in the above photo.
