    Oh my god, how terrible.

If I’m correct, these shootings actually happened around 6pm. Were there still ITS kids on the playground???

    • Found it on twitter – 5:45pm:

“Confirmed Shooting at 1746 hrs in the 300 block of Franklin St NE.”

It happened around 5:45 (according to MPD’s initial tweet). I live on Evarts Street (parallel to Franklin) and saw all the aftermath. There were tons of kids at the playground, on the field, and at the rec center. And this happened in broad daylight.
      .
      Unbelievable.

Yes, there were ITS kids at aftercare on the field at the time – shooting happened around 5:45. I’m an ITS parent and we received communication yesterday evening from both the aftercare provider and from the school leadership. The basketball court is quite a bit up and away from the school, but it’s still disconcerting. I hope for good outcomes for the kids who were shot and that there aren’t retaliatory incidents.

“hope … that there aren’t retaliatory incidents”
        .
I too hope this, but I’m not all that optimistic. It’s highly unlikely that these kids don’t know who shot them, and their seeming unwillingness to cooperate (conjecture, maybe they are) leads me to believe that they’re going to want to seek retribution in other ways. See what happened with the guy who shot the Jam Doung owner.

Thanks for sharing this, PoP. Edgewood is a great neighborhood that’s pretty close knit, which makes terrible things like this even more troubling.
