“Happy hour at Taqueria del Barrio runs from 4pm-8pm on Tuesdays through Fridays, with specials available at the bar or in the lounge seating tucked behind the bar. Late night happy hour runs from 9pm until close on Tuesdays through Fridays, with specials available at the bar counter. Guests can satisfy cravings with half-price empanadas – a specialty of husband-and-wife owners Shawn & Anna Leis, who also operate DC Empanadas – and chicken taquitos, while enjoying $5 classic margaritas, $6 select wines, and $1 off draft beers.”

I need to get up that way and try this, looks great! (I live in MVT near the convention center so it needs to be a special trip.)

Are they FINALLY adding Mexican beer? Because that would actually bring me back.

I’ve been twice in the past week – this place is great! Love that the empanadas change daily. Friendly staff too!

  • Hope they expand operations to include lunch, the most important meal in the barrio.

I wasn’t drinking the last time I went, but I noticed that their cheapest beer – a 16-ounce can! – was $11.00, so unless things have changed, this is a deal that might garner you a $10.00 beer. Coupled with two tacos and a tip, you’re looking at $20.00.
