Dynamix Lounge “featuring poetry and spoken word” coming to building next to Sticky Rice on H Street

1220 H Street, NE

This could be very cool – the liquor license placard for Dynamix Lounge, right next door to Sticky Rice, says:

“New Class “C” Tavern featuring poetry and spoken word and offering alcoholic beverages. Total Occupancy Load of 75. Offering Live Entertainment, which includes Dancing and Cover Charge.”

Stay tuned.

Overflow noise from drunken karaoke at Sing Sing next door will make spoken poetry very interesting…

You don’t seriously think that spoken word poetry is all that’s going to happen here, right? I’m sure they’ll be able to figure it out.

It’s a poetry bar. What did you expect, hand dancing?

        • Anon

I don’t know what hand dancing is, but if you’ve been to other “poetry bars”, you’d be well aware that spoken word performances are just a part of what they do. Otherwise they are just a bar like anywhere else.

Meh, depends on the poetry bar. But I do know that they usually don’t have hand dancing.

based on the above description, I anticipate lots of spoken poetry and words.

I first read this as Dominatrix. That would be an interesting combo with spoken word poetry.

Hmm cover charge? The only places on H st with covers are Da Luft (no On the Rocks), Roses Dejavu, Touche Supper Club, and Avery’s. Yeah, hard pass on this one. Good luck with your $14 water downed apple martinis.
