We’ve long marveled at dead Christmas trees discarded well past Christmas. The sightings in August bring immense wonder and joy. Well a live one in April is pretty damn spectacular too! Props to Jonathan for spotting this guy on 14th Street in Logan Circle. And props to the owner too – it’s a fine looking tree!

Yikes, maybe somebody should do a wellness check on the residents of this apartment. I mean, who leaves their tree up this long?

wellness check and make sure that’s an artificial tree! Real ones are such fire hazards.

Hahaha +1 but it looks artificial to me (it’s too perfectly tree-shaped). Maybe they’re people who like to have Valentine’s trees and Easter trees, etc? They exist! Ha.

Friends from Louisiana decorate their Christmas tree in red, gold, and green every year, then after Epiphany, they swap out the red for purple and make it a Mardi Gras tree!

So it’s an inherited trait — haven’t you been known to have an Easter tree at some point in the past?
This year I kept my (artificial) tree up until late January, because I didn’t get around to decorating it until right before Christmas.

My wife probably would if I weren’t such a Grinch.

There’s a unit at the Hudson/DeSoto that has their Christmas tree up year round. You can see it from Whole Foods.

    Artificial. It’s up year-round

My parents have been known to leave their artificial tree up all year in some years in the past. One year they decorated it with cobwebs and various ghoulish things and called it a Halloween tree. I’ll be visiting briefly for the first time this year in late June. I would not be surprised if it’s still there.

      Please report back.

Growing up, I had a friend whose parents kept a Christmas room decorated with fake tree year round. At Christmas time, they just flipped a switch and lit it all up. The rest of the year the room was closed off. They were a weird family.

    this makes me very happy

My Grandma has three trees up inside year-round! They used to get decorated by season/holiday but that’s gone out the window. Now the largest is decorated in Christmas ornaments, teddy bears, and family photos, the next in size is pink and Easter-themed, and the smallest is a random assortment of things but pretty much just a mini version of the big one. She also insists we help water the (fake) flowers when we visit (luckily they are outside). All of these things make her happy so who are we to question!
