Just in from Buzzfeed:

“Rep. Jason Chaffetz will not seek re-election in 2018, two sources who have been informed of his decision tell BuzzFeed News.”

Goodbye is too good a word, Chaffetz, so we’ll just say fare thee well…

Excellent news. But unfortunately he still has the next ~21 months to mess with the District.

    RAVE RAVE RAVE RAVE RAVE

    Bye asshole

Huh? For all that BS grandstanding, it seemed pretty obvious that he was pining to set himself up to run for a higher office. Did someone catch him sucking someone off or something? Or did he erode local support to such a level that he didn’t think he’d get reelect?

    • textdoc

The full text says: “I may run again for public office, but not in 2018.”

    • Anon

Per Cillizza: AKA “I am running for governor in 2020 and being in Congress is making that harder not easier.”

      • Anon

That makes sense. Guess that means that he won’t relent on being a royal douche for the next ~20 months.

        +1

Ding dong the witch is retiring.

Awesome news. I don’t get too worked up over politics normally but he made me irrationally angry. I’m a republican and I found him to be completely embarrassing. Good riddance!

BUHbye you worthless POS. don’t let the door hit ya!

  • Suse

Setting himself up for Orrin Hatch’s seat…..

  • Truxton Thomas

    Good riddance to bad rubbish.

    YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!

Well his FB feed says he’s returning (returning? was he ever?) to the private sector. That makes me think Lobbyist. How long does he have to wait before he can start lobbying? Ugh, if this is the case, I’m sick of the corruption.

    • textdoc

Haha, I too immediately thought “Revolving door — he’s going to become a lobbyist.”

Don’t let the door hit ya where the Lord split ya.

  • Planner

Happy for us here in DC.
Not as happy for my friends in Utah, but he’s their problem now.

    • Michael Pierce

He shows so many signs of being one of those repressed dudes. Utah doesn’t want him either, though.

      • Ross

+1, I’ve heard some juicy rumors about this guy, like maybe he isn’t the type of guy his constituents probably think he is.

  • anon&confused

    Boy bye!

Suggest everybody read his wiki, especially the parts about his liberal Democrat self up to his religious conversion and time at BYU and his family and individual connection to the Dukakis family.
