    This is a good deal

      Agree, not bad at all.

I lived in that building between 2010 and 2012, and it was the mostly poorly managed building I’ve ever lived in. The building manager (Naomi, I think was her name) was rude and unresponsive. Borger raised our rent to the maximum amount permitted by law each year, there were constant maintenance issues (leaks from the apartment above ours into our kitchen/bathroom), ongoing in-building construction (they were, at least at the time, renovating units as folks moved out) which involved a considerable amount of noise that made it impossible to work from home (which I did), there was an ongoing rodent issue in our unit, a rat issue in the building’s parking space, the fitness center was frequently in disrepair, the roof was frequently closed, etc. Building management continually shrugged their shoulders, and continued to raise our rent without regard for these issues. When my roommate and I tried to escalated the issues to the powers that be at Borger, the Borger management was rude and dismissive. They eventually told us that the building was no longer allowing residents to have “temporary” walls (the ones to convert 1 bedroom units into 2 bedroom units), and effectively forced us to move out. A week later, we saw our unit Craigslist being advertised as a “1 bedroom, converted to 2 bedroom — great for roommates!” Interestingly, I think $1650 for a studio is less than they were charging 5 years ago, so perhaps the market has caught on to the mismanagement.

I lived here for three years, moving out in May 2016. I think they took KBT’s complaints to heart–I remember reading about them on ApartmentRatings.com before I moved in. I found management (was still Naomi when I lived there) to be very responsive, almost always within a business day, if not next. We never had rodent problems in our apartment, and maintenance requests were usually handled same-day.. The common areas were always well-kept, and I think our rent was raised twice in three years, to a total of $75 more a month in three years. Also really liked the residents, a mix of older people and young professionals. The cons were street parking (you’re in the middle of a bunch of restaurants and shops, and thus Virginia and Maryland plates), they control whether you get heat or AC (so the beginning of spring and end of fall were always Goldilocks days), and honestly the general noise of the area (buses pick-up outside the apartment, motorcades, horns honking, etc.). The roof deck is still missed by friends, and the location was fantastic.

I lived there too, back in 2008-2009, in a converted 1 bedroom unit into 2 bedrooms. Overall, it was great to live there as a young professional with an active social life. We did have a mouse issue and management dealt with it, but it took a while.

I had no idea that the building had a gym… hahaha.

I lived there from 2002-2008 and at that time management was fine. I never had any problems with vermin but maybe it varied by floor, I don’t know. This was before the kitchens and all were renovated. I did use the (tiny) gym on the reg, though. The only bad part about living there was all the students/youngs who would do things like leave thong underwear hanging on the fire alarms after a “fun” weekend. And I was in my 20’s at the time…
