I don’t understand the point of putting USB ports everywhere. I’m not going to go around with my phone charging cable without the power outlet plug, in the hopes that I can find a USB port. Also, USB-C is about to take over, which has a completely different plug on it.

    • Rich

I had them installed in the plugs for my kitchen when it was redone. Trust me, they are a real asset.

      • Nathan

+1 I’ve swapped a few of my outlets out for them in my house. Very convenient.

      • Mr USB

        They also charge MUCH faster

Is this something one can DIY?

        • Nathan

Oh yeah. They make ones that snap on but the hard wired ones are pretty easy. Just take out the old switch and hookup a few wires. I think mine are leviton brand.

          • Anon

Cool, maybe I’ll try it sometime. I’m an electrical engineer but not very handy (I once tried to replace a GFI in my kitchen and had to ask my dad do it after I’d struggled for hours to get the wires wrapped around the screws!).

USB-C has the same male connector on the part that attaches to the wall/charger.

    “Capital” Hill

These are beautiful pictures, but 1) this block is still super crime-ridden, 2) 416 square feet, 3) this building overlooks a parking lot and M ST (i.e. you can’t see the water or the Capitol Building), 4) it’s still a 15 minute walk to Barrack’s Row, 5) the Bixby’s building looks rundown from the lack of landscaping on the lot, and 6) the Bixby building itself isn’t represented in this photo? You’re better off finding a condo nearer to Barrack’s Row for about the same price or looking at a taller building with a view. Way overpriced.

I agree with many of your points, but it’s a 5 min walk to Barracks row, and only that long because of the railroad construction, and I personally like the building and don’t think it looks rundown at all. I also think that picture is what it’s supposed to look like in a few years, when they’ve built a building on the M St parking lot and landscaping has matured.

      • Anon

I agree. I live just north of Eastern Market and often wish I lived closer to M Street so I’d have easy access to both Barracks Row and the Yards.

      • AJSE

It’s a 5 minute walk to lower Barrack’s Row (south of the overpass), I’d still say it’s closer to 15 (we can at least agree on 10) to somewhere like Rose’s. @Anon – we probably have different tastes. I used to live just north of the market and now live square in Navy Yard and much preferred having to walk the extra 15-20 minutes to Nats Games or the waterfront to living close to M St. Though easy access to B Dubs is great too.

USB ports, what more could you want!

But does it have a dog wash?
