Is this your Drone?

“Dear PoPville,

We came back from our holiday break to find a drone in our front yard in the 1300 block of Perry Place, NW.

We do not know how long it had been there, since we had been gone since mid-December, but we’d love to get it back to its owner. Can you help?”

If yours email [email protected] and I’ll put you in touch with OP. Also, quick reminder for ya, DC is a DC No Drone Zone as designated by the FAA…

If it has a camera (and you care enough to bother), you could try to look at the footage and see where it took off from. Might even be able to see the operator in the footage.

And if one really cared a lot, they could send that over to whoever enforces the no-drone policy.
I’m pretty ambivalent on the policy in general, but this level of acceptance/facilitation of breaking federal law with consequences so overtly physical is kinda annoying. If this person could lose their drone in a random yard, how carefully are they operating this thing that flies over all our heads and property, you know?

I’ve had a drone “looking” in my 8th floor window (in DC)

The drone should be registered if the owner took the time to do it. Not sure how much help it will do but I thought the list was pretty neat.
