A reader reported Monday night:

“This happened today at the corner of Georgia Ave and Hamilton St. (approximately Georgia Ave., NW) There were also children in the car, but no one was seriously injured (according to the store clerk).”

DC Fire and EMS reported:

“Car into store 5200 block Georgia Ave NW. Checking for injuries and assessing structural damage. Also have odor of gas. PIO enroute.”

“Ga. Ave update. Both Pts tx. Gas Co. on scene dealing with leak. 3 evacuees from store and adj. apt remain outside until gas leak secured.”

Corrections: Only 1 child in the car. The ‘adjacent apartment’ is a small design business that had to evacuate a dozen employees. Damage ended up only being cosmetic.

The driver is reported to have had a stroke.

There’s a decent amount of foot traffic on this block at that time of day, so it’s a miracle no one was killed. When I saw the news van and Georgia shut down between Gallatin and Ingraham, I assumed a homicide scene, so I guess this was relatively better news?

yeah was walking my dog from jefferson and assumed homicide. it is weird to think, but yeah, it seems like better news.

Apparently people are taking the #BoycottHamilton movement a little too seriously.
