From Compass Rose:

“DIVAS FROM THE DEAD

~HALLOWEEN 2016~

The spirits of the dead have moved us to celebrate Halloween weekend in honor of all of the divas who have passed. We’re hosting three days of Halloween events, enough time to honor all of the divas.

Saturday, October 29th

We’re bringing back Rose’s House Party, hosted by the spirit of Frida Khalo. We will have a DJ playing all the Old School Hip Hop, featuring divas who have gone before us, just like Frida. Starts at 11:00pm!

Sunday, October 30th

DJ Harry Hotter and DJ Smudge are hosting the first-ever ‘Brunch of the Living Dead’ at Compass Rose, their daytime debut of their ‘Night of the Living Dead’ party. They will only be playing music by dead musicians, Elvis to Tupac. (Check them out at the Velvet Lounge on the Friday before for the night version of this event!) Starts at 11:00am!

Monday, October 31st

DJ Richard Mixin will be in visiting from Boston. He’s our favorite DJ Diva and will be collaborating with Mo for our first ever Mo Monday Halloween Party! Starts at 5:00pm with happy hour specials.”

Potomac Harmony is Back! Following a gap year of competing, then virtual rehearsals during the pandemic, followed by the well-earned retirement of our long-term director, a year of a director search, Potomac Harmony hit the regional contest stage in Concord, North Carolina in March for the first time since 2018! It was exhilarating, reaffirming, and rewarding!

The chorus hit all of its goals, the biggest of which was to have fun and sing our best on contest stage — we did both! Because we earned a score over 400 points, our new Director, Allison Lynskey, was awarded the Novice Director award, photo above. Additionally, one of our charter members, Jackie Bottash, was nominated for and honored with the Leadership Excellence award. It was a celebratory weekend!

What’s next? So much! We now look forward to upcoming performances, growing our membership, and expanding our musical product with new arrangements and an education component each week. It’s an exciting time to be part of this ever-growing ensemble!
