Is this a true outlet – or just cheaper versions of their clothes ala J Crew?
Not that I care, just curious. The one thing I’ve gotten from there is great. There’s very few things that I buy at “full price” stores anymore. If Bonobos ever has an outlet with their pants though, see ya.

    • I don’t think there have been “true” outlets for clothing lines in quite a long time, if you’re referring to the kind that used to take all of last season’s wares and sell them at a discount. Almost everything is made specifically for this stores now, and quite often the discounts are fabricated out of thin air.

          Thanks for the link.
I see the article says this about Saks Off 5th: “Executives from Off 5th, which carries brands like True Religion and Alice + Olivia, told investors last year its products are 10% leftover Saks inventory, 25% private-label goods, and the rest mostly merchandise created for the stores by ‘brand-appropriate’ vendors.”

Yeah you really only find true outlets in a few places. Woodbury Commons in NY has real outlets with prior seasons items, and quite high end ones (Tom Ford, Ralph Lauren Purple Label, etc) at that. Last time I was in an Off 5th it seemed like they had a bit from the mainline store, but most was for Off 5th.

        • Anon

What’s the mainline store called? Just Saks? I never realized Saks Off 5th was an outlet for another store.

            Saks Fifth Avenue

LLBean still has legit outlets. “Outlets” nowadays are such a frickin scam.

        • JohnH

Are outlets the scam…or the regular stores that cost 2 or 3x the amount?

  • planner

And Nordstrom Rack will be in the same building. (according to the signs I saw there yesterday.)

  • Chris

I’m saving my shopping for the Nordstrom Rack. I saw it opens October 27th!
