From Petworth Citizen:
“What kind of bookish speakeasy would #ReadingRoomDC be if it didn’t love banned books? Chantal Tseng crafts this weekend’s Literary Cocktails from a collection of books that have faced censorship in the past. Raise a glass to #BannedBooksWeek with us, Friday and Saturday nights 7pm-12am.”
Sneak peek at one of the cocktails:
“Animal Farm”
Apple Brandy, Barley tea-maple syurp, Whole egg, cider, nutmeg & osmanthus leaves
BG: George Orwell writes an allegorical story about revolution on a farm where the animals (led by the apple loving pigs and their loyal dogs) take over from an abusive and alcoholic farmer. Our inspired drink takes elements of the farm like apples, barley, eggs and riffs on the classic family of Flip cocktails. We are welcoming the fall season and harvests with this one. The story is essentially one big “Flip” where the humans are overthrown but then the pigs become the new tyrannical humans.”
