From a press release:

“Capital Bikeshare today celebrates the installation of its 400th station. This milestone comes as the system approaches the 6th anniversary of the region’s bike sharing system September 20.

The installation team from Motivate International, operator of Capital Bikeshare, installed a 15-dock station at the intersection of Division Avenue and Foote Street, NE, in Ward 7 in the District — marking the 400th publicly accessible station to be added to the Capital Bikeshare system.

To celebrate the milestone, Capital Bikeshare is holding a one day system-wide scavenger hunt for all riders. One hundred limited-edition Capital Bikeshare CitySeat padded seat covers have been randomly placed on bicycles throughout the system, and today, September 2, riders are eligible to find and claim the seat covers.

Riders who find a bike with a seat cover are encouraged to post a photo of the special keepsake to social media and tag Capital Bikeshare with the hashtag #cabi400 for an opportunity to win one of 10 annual Capital Bikeshare membership gift certificates.

The winners will be announced by end of today, September 2, via social media on Capital Bikeshare’s Twitter and Facebook accounts.”

Come on, Dan! Those are totally not Cap Bikeshares in that photo…

Errrr … The wink emoji didn’t go through and therefore it would be very easy to miss that my comment was in jest. (I know the history lesson!)

Look at the url title – the photo was in jest ;)

  • It would be great if they focused more on fixing the bikes currently in their system than expanding stations. It’s ironic they’re featuring the seats, since almost every seat I’ve been on is total crap.

definitely get a dud here and there, but I wouldn’t say I’ve experienced frequent problems by any means.

I’ve used CaBi over 1000 times and have only had an issue with seats a few times. Not sure how this is such an issue for you?
