Thanks to a reader for sending word about City Dogs opening another location on H Street, NE. On Facebook they say:

“Our contractor is aiming for the second week of November for the work to be complete so we can open. We’ll have full availability at that time, with the likely exception that Thanksgiving and Christmas may fill up quickly after opening.”

City Dogs also has a location at 1832 18th St, NW: “City Dogs provides a fun, cage-less environment for dog daycare and boarding. Make your pooch a happy dog!”

I like most of the people who work at city dogs, but man they have a terrible time keeping the place clean. I feel like every time I pick my dog up from there – even after just a day or two – he’s covered in urine (especially his feet) and needs a bath. I would never do it for the day since I couldn’t justify how filthy he’d get.

    Hi Lonny,
For a time, we had a new rubber flooring material in some areas that was designed to be soft on the joints, but it was difficult to keep clean because of the texture. We’ve switched to an easy to clean polyurea flooring material and brought on extra staff recently to ensure that things are much better. If you contact us, we can give you a complimentary day to come back.

But will they charge $750 to put your name on the waitlist???

    RIP H Street

If the H Street Festival is a good representation of H Street, I’m not sure why anyone would offer condolences. Bye.

With the greatest respect, if the H Street Festival is the primary metric for your measure of H Street, it’s not surprising that you don’t understand. People who have spent time around H NEiver the last ten years – and especially those that have lived in the area – will get why an expensive doggy day care merits an obituary for the area.

I live just to the north of H Street. I’ve been here for over 5 years and love my neighborhood. But we need more retail and service businesses for our growing population. While i am a cat owner i am still very excited about new retail coming and will definitely stop in to the store to show my support. We have plenty of bars/restaurants (which i love) but new retail is needed.
