Major Progress at Mythology on H Street

I was sure this place was dead, far from it!

“Mythology Restaurant and Lore Lounge will be exciting new additions to the vibrant Atlas neighborhood / H St NE corridor of Wash DC. Opening 2016.”

Previously we learned Mythology & Lore Lounge would be a:

“new Retail Class “C” Tavern. The establishment is a modern white table cloth chop house on the first floor providing steaks, seafood and vegetarian options with a significant dessert menu. There will be two kitchens. One on the first floor, and one on the second floor to execute the lounge menu. Menus will be offered up to an hour before closing. Lounge operations are on the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th floors. Third floor will include collapsible doors that open to a summer garden with the back of the garden enclosed by a two story wall. Dance floor will be 15 feet by10 feet and located on the H Street side of the 2nd floor. The number of seats is 150 and the total occupancy load is 160. The rooftop Summer Garden has split-level seating with entertainment for 32 seats; 70 person load.”

Anyone else confused by the name of this place compared to its description? Huh? I thought this would be like a D&D tavern or something.

Yeah the name doesn’t seem to match the concept, but I absolutely love it. What an awesome name.

I like the name I just wish it was a place filled with wooden bench tables that are 2 feet off the ground and served beers in goblets and steins or something weird like that.

        • eggs

I would be there all the time.

  • Fun police

Sweet. Looks like this could be the Tom Tom’s of H St.

      I miss Tom Tom’s! I mean my 23-26 year old self does…

  • Anon H St

Another one who was hoping this would be a mythology-themed tavern for nerds, instead of a douchey steakhouse and “lounge”. The reno looks nice though.

  • Dadric

I’ll be genuinely shocked if this place lasts 18 months.

Can’t say the I’m super excited for it, but if they execute the menu and operations even halfway decently they should be fine with such a substantial rooftop. H St is lacking outdoor options.

    • Anon H St

Me too- not sure why anyone thinks H St can support a fancy steakhouse/lounge. But, at least the space is renovated now. Maybe the next tenant will make it into something good.

      • H Street can absolutely support a fancy steakhouse, if that’s what they limited it to. I don’t want to eat in a steakhouse that also wants to be da club. There are two huge apartment / condo complexes opening by the end of the year (Anthology / Apollo), that will be filled with plenty of people with good amounts of expendable income. The forthcoming change of demand on businesses in H Street will be pretty dramatic.

also the website aesthetics are strange … http://www.mythology-lore.com/

Uh oh, looks like DaLuft is going to have some stiff competition.

  • Great, another terrible business like Da Luft that has no idea what the hell it wants to be but will sell shitty liquor late into the night so inexcusably will have a line on the weekends. At least this one is further away from me so the eventual stabbings won’t be so foreboding.
