Ed. Note: Back in February we (at least I) learned “laundry detergent is a form of street currency used in the drug trade.”

From MPD:

On Friday, May 13, 2016, in the 100 block of Kennedy Street, Northwest, at approximately 8:49 am, the suspect entered the establishment and took several bottles of laundry detergent.

On Thursday, May 26, 2016, in the 100 block of Kennedy Street, Northwest, at approximately 8:10 am, the suspect entered the establishment and took several packs of diapers.

On Monday, May 30, 2016, in the 3600 block of Georgia Avenue, Northwest, at approximately 6:40 pm, the suspect entered the establishment and took several bottles of laundry detergent.

      +1

  • it is easily resold for cash in predominantly poor communities. Lot of FoT items like laundry detergent for fast money. Diapers too.

    I love cheese too.

  • in-SW

In particular Tides Detergent brand is the hottest. I was at Safeway in SW looking for Tides and walked back and forth and couldn’t find any and thought that was odd. Another day I was at their customer desk and asked them why they don’t carry it and they said they do–it’s behind their desk, you just have to ask for it since it gets stolen a lot. I walked away a little baffled.
