You’d think that if they gave up on it and left it there they’d at least take the plates off. I wonder if they know?

It doesn’t look like this car was “gutted.” I think it burned.

    • DRC

Gutted, meaning the inside was completely burned up by the fire. Common term for fire damage.

It was probably stolen, parked there and set on fire. right? I’m not an expert on these things.

    Maybe it was stolen?
FWIW, the OP’s spelling — “fazed” — is the correct spelling.

I could be wrong, but it looks like there was a car fire to me.

What’s the driver supposed to do? They can’t exactly drive it away.

Assuming they know about it (and aren’t wondering where they left their car), perhaps they’ve reported it to insurance, which will come out to deal with it.

That said, I’d take the plates so DPW doesn’t start slapping parking tickets on it.

Come back tomorrow and you’ll find a DC parking ticket. Then another. And another. In fact, the overdue notices are probably the only way the owner will ever find out what happened to their car.

I saw this while getting lunch on Tuesday. People were slowing down to give a WTF look to it.

Parking Enforcement came with the flatbed and took it away Tuesday afternoon. They left a carrier bag with a car battery and some clothes (?) on the curb along with all the broken glass and other charred remains in the street.
