Damn! I love DCity Smokehouse, but maybe not so much that I’m willing to take a bullet for that BBQ.

Because that’s exactly what happened. Thank you for the astute analysis.

      • Truxtoner

Assuming that is a joke. DCity isn’t even at that location anymore.

        • Anon

Oh, DCity moved around the corner? Well that’s news! Lets continue that thread a little further – screw this feller struggling for his life.

          • Truxtoner

Actually, no, it isn’t open in its new location yet. It’s selling food out of Wicked Bloom, a sister bar, at the moment. And again, dude was joking.

Got it – he’s got jokes – though couldn’t he wait for the funeral? It’d be much funnier then.

That parking lot is in the middle of the block-wide section 8 housing; and this one is usually pretty quiet.

Really? There have been like three shootings within a block of this since I moved to Truxton a year ago.

      • Shawz

Three shootings in a year is basically pretty quiet for an area like this. Some of these other large housing projects have police activity almost every day.

I guess it’s all relative. I was thinking along the lines of pretty quiet vice Sursum Corda.

        • TCircler

Sursum Corda is pretty quiet. I live right between the two of these and I do not recall there being one shooting at Sursum Corda since I moved over here. Also, Sursum will be gone in two years.

Three shootings within one block that I can think of. I have no idea if that is all there has been.

This isn’t the first shooting to stem out of that parking lot. When the weather gets nicer, some folks tend to hang out outside and play craps and whatnot. They have always been pleasant in my interactions (going as far as to consciously clear the sidewalk to let us pass through), but I guess there’s gotta be that one bad apple to ruin it for everyone else.

  • Bloomingdale Resident

Having lived in Bloomingdale two blocks away for a year now this was one of the first incidents in this complex I saw or really heard about. If you look at the DC crime map it supports that as well. I am concerned that this is an indicator of what this summer will look like in DC echoing the uptick in violence last summer.
