When They Said The Blooms are Coming Early, They Weren’t Kidding

    Isn’t that a crabapple tree? I don’t think I’ve seen any Yoshino cherry blossoms yet?

      Not crabapple, as it has the distinctive cherry tree bark. But yeah, not Yoshino either. Haven’t figured out this particular cultivar, but I’ve noticed the past several years that we have these pinkish-purplish blooming cherries (plums?) that are among the very first trees to flower, a couple of weeks before the Yoshinos.

      • It’s a Kwanzan, they have double blossoms, and typically bloom after the Yoshinos, and for longer.

    They say peak bloom will be March 18-23 but rain is forecast for March 18-20 -__-
