Your Afternoon Animal Fix

by Prince Of Petworth February 3, 2016 at 3:30 pm 14 Comments

If you have any animal/pet photos you’d like to share please send an email to princeofpetworth(at)gmail(dot)com with ‘Animal Fix’ in the title and say the name of your pet and your neighborhood. Your photos will go into the queue (usually 2 weeks wait) and will be posted in the order I receive them. If you’ve already entered your pet and would like to do so again – that’s no problem – just space the entries out a bit. Please try to send horizontal photos 640×480 (medium size on your iphone) if possible. If you’re not using an iphone any size is fine.

“Ellie, Capitol Hill. Ellie’s hobbies include pizza crusts and sleeping on the couch”

“New Baby Kitty wonders if life on the streets might not have been preferable to a cushy indoor life that includes pre teen girls.”

“1 year old Olive was adopted from City Dogs Rescue and now lives in Dupont.”

  • Every day after Animal Fix I remind my cat that she doesn’t have it so bad–I never try to put her in a sweater or on a leash or in a snow bank. Poor (but hilarious) Baby Kitty :)

I would love to put my cat in a sweater like that, but he would tear it and me to shreds.

NBK is remarkably tolerant about everything people do, like cutting his nails or carrying him upside down. On his own, he is a ridiculous holy terror. See previous posts about destroyed furniture, knocked over things (all the things), having to defend my meals with an extra fork, and his new favorite sport, chandelier boxing. I must admit, though, the pink sweater tested even his chill.

If only my cat would let me cut his nails. Fortunately, we moved last year to a house with a big back yard. He is much happier now and leaves the furniture alone.

I would love to get a few pics of my cat in a sweater just because, but he would tear me to shreds.

I showed the Baby Kitty picture to Kumquat and Purrsey. They’re having none of it! They even take off their collars.

Me and Ellie could totally hang. We have a lot in common.

I love old dogs graying faces like Ellie’s. Makes my heart melt. So precious.

I have a love/hate relationship with the greying muzzle. On one hand, it is really stately. :) On the other hand, the couple of times a year I see my furry niece and nephews, they’ve gone more gray/white than the last time I saw them, and it’s just this sad reminder that they’re getting up there are I won’t always have my buddies around to snuggle. :( At least the oldest of them (13) still had enough vim and vigor to give my 5-year-old pup a real run for his money on playing over Christmas (he’s also twice my dog’s size, and I saw the old man body slam my dog in the yard to instigate a good wrestling match when he thought no one was watching…not aggressive, playful, and my dog is a good sport), so I can continue to hope for many happy returns for my original furry shadow. Sorry…just needed to say that, since the fam just posted a “then and now” FB post of a picture of him at their wedding 9 years ago and recently…

Oh my god! New Baby Kitty in a sweater is the cutest thing I’ve seen in a very long time! I cannot imagine getting my youngest kitty in a sweater without a lot of bloodshed!

Hats off to the person who put New Baby Kitty in the pink sweater. She would be the perfect model for a Cats In Clothes portrait (http://www.heathermattoon.com/catsinclothes/).
