Apparently I missed a massive power outage this morning – sorry I missed all the tweets:

“15,000 people in DC without power this morning including myself.”

Fortunately it seems to have been restored around 11am. Neighborhoods affected were Shaw, U Street, Columbia Heights, LeDroit Park, Bloomingdale, Mount Pleasant, Adams Morgan, and Dupont Circle. Anyone else? How long did you lose power for?

There’s an MPD cruiser parked at 5th and T NW (in Ledroit) and he has his lights on, but no siren. He’s just sitting there. Does anyone know what this means?

probably nothing. MPD will occasionally post a car at that intersection at night to ward off people getting mugged walking around the neighborhood.

Thanks! A little unnerving for those unfamiliar with MPD practices.

In our house in Mt. Pleasant we lost if for about an hour.

  • Food for All DC was operating their weekly Saturday morning program at 16th and S St. We lost power at around 8:40am but it was restored close to 9:30am. Thanks to all our volunteers who persevered through it and helped us deliver much needed food to 60 households in DC!
