Stabbing Homicide at 8th and Upshur St, NW around 5:30pm Sunday

Update from MPD:

“Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch are investigating a fatal stabbing that occurred in the 4100 block of 8th Street, Northwest, on Sunday, December 20, 2015.

At approximately 5:20 pm, members of the Fourth District responded to a call for a man down. Upon arrival, they located a male victim, unconscious, and suffering from stab wounds. D.C. Fire and Emergency Services responded to the scene and transported the victim to a local hospital, where all lifesaving efforts failed.

The decedent has been identified as 17-year-old Jose Ochoa of Northwest, DC.

The Metropolitan Police Department currently offers a reward of up to $25,000 to anyone that provides information which leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for any homicide committed in the District of Columbia. Anyone with information about this case is asked to call the police at (202) 727-9099. Additionally, anonymous information may be submitted to the department’s TEXT TIP LINE by text messaging 50411.”

    This is terrible news. We just had a PSA meeting about how the crime stats are looking better (mostly) … And then this. I feel terrible for this man and his family. And I feel less safe in my neighborhood. What is the solution to end the violence in our neighborhoods?
