Originally MPD tweeted:

MPD also responded to the call for a shooting in the 5100 block of 7th St NW and found a subject suffering from a non life threatening gun shot wound. A gun was recovered and it was later determined that the subject that was shot accidentally shot himself.”

    What a dumbass.

Actually, I’m suprised you all don’t think he got shot by somebody else and didn’t want to be a snitch. There are way to many people who got shot by another person who feign it was self inflicted cause they don’t want to talk to the police about the reasons for the shooting (gang-related or might have been a theif themselves in a botched robbery).

Is accidentally shooting someone a crime? Does the fellow who shot himself get charged with the same crime as if he accidentally shot another person?

“Is accidentally shooting someone a crime?”
On the off chance this is a serious question . . . yes. Yes, it is.

    • AG

Well, sounds like this wasn’t a legal firearm so at least one crime was committed.

Where was the house a few blocks away?

it’s a shame that it literally took neighbors constant complaining and public advocacy over several months to finally get action by MPD. They’ve called 911 in situations like this before and no action. MPD really needs to get their act together in Ward 4. How the Attorney General can also take this long for action is also simply wrong. I love speech more from our district government to and politicians.
