ANYONE LIVING IN GEORGETOWN WITH NO PETS AT HOME AND KIDS OVER THE AGE OF SEVEN. UNFORTUNATELY, WE CANNOT DO UNIVERSITY/ON CAMPUS HOUSING AT THIS TIME. OH, AND YOU CAN’T HAVE CAT ALLERGIES.
HOW DOES IT WORK?

PRETTY SIMPLE. WE’LL BRING A BASKET OF KITTENS, MACARONS, AND A PLAY PEN TO YOU. WE WILL SET UP THE PLAY PEN IN YOUR LIVING ROOM AND YOU’LL HAVE THIRTY MINUTES TO ENJOY YOUR KITTENS AND MACARONS.
WHEN AND HOW CAN I ORDER?

WE ALWAYS ANNOUNCE EVERYTHING VIA OUR MAILING LIST, SO MAKE SURE YOU’RE SIGNED UP TO GET AN UPDATE AS SOON AS ORDERING GOES LIVE!
IS KITTEN DELIVERY GUARANTEED TO EVERYONE WHO REQUESTS THE SERVICE?

SADLY NOT. WE WILL TRY TO ACCOMMODATE EVERYONE WHO REQUESTS THE SERVICE, BUT THERE ARE ONLY SO MANY KITTENS AND MACARONS IN THIS WORLD. IF YOU REQUEST THE SERVICE AND ARE NOT ABLE TO GET IT, DON’T WORRY – IF THINGS GO WELL, WE’LL BRING THIS BACK AGAIN!”

I can’t help myself, I have to brag….the unbelievably adorable little black kittens in the photo are currently bouncing around my guest bedroom. I have the great pleasure of fostering them through Lucky Dog and Cat Rescue Foundation. :)

They, and their brother, will be back at Crumbs and Whiskers this Saturday for the 2nd mustache party! They will be available for adoption soon!

You have the best life ever!

    • DC

Can you explain the mustache party? I don’t really understand from the advertisements what it is. Do patrons wear fake mustaches? I’m assuming the cats wouldn’t put up with that.

      • Jane

        mustaches are still a thing??

      • DC

Oops – my apologies, tried to edit the first post and ended up double-posting.

    • Happy Kitten Foster Mom

Correcting again: *LOST* Dog and Cat Rescue Foundation.

My bad, brain not functioning. (Too many kittens on my mind).

  • Happy Kitten Foster Mom

    ACK….brain already on Thanksgiving Break:

  • Tim

    this is absurd

    • mondo

Awww, sounds like someone could use…oh, I don’t know…a basket of kittens to cheer him up?

      • Tim

That would hit the spot. But then I’d be really sad for paying $99 for half an hour with them…then I’d need more kittens to cheer me up…oh I get the business model now.

        • MVT

          Haha Well Played

        • Anon

I knew this had to be somehow related to cocaine.

          • INDC

Cocaine and Kittens. I think you’re on to something.

    • CHGal

Thank God. I thought it was just me. Kittens that have been dragged around town and pet by other strangers all day? That sounds terrible.

  • anon

i just don’t think the residents of georgetown are the right market for this. now those of us in bloomingdale, we’d like to see it in our neighborhood.

    • houseintherear

      YES!

  • But how many kittens are in the basket? I need a kitten to cost ratio to determine value!

    • madmonk28

To be honest, how many kittens can you possibly eat in half an hour? Or am I not understanding the concept?

      • Tim

That partly depends on if you’re eating the macarons before the kittens, as a side dish with the kittens, or for desert.

      • Smilla

Ha! I’m waiting for PoP to Tweet your comment as way to get people to read this post!

      • LOL of the day.

      • Anon

Oh thank you thank you thank you for that comment. I needed to lol today.

      • Blithe

        Bravo!

      • Hahahahaha

  • Definitely a “crumby” idea! You pay $100.00, a rescue group gets a paltry $15.00 and a business gets $85.00. Plus the kittens get hauled around to strange environments. Anyone that wants a “kitten fix” is welcome to come play with my fosters in my home anytime. (Donations to Homeward Trails are of course welcome.)

    • LittleBluePenguin

yeah, I’m not at all on board with this. I love kittens as much as – probably more than – the next guy, but that just seems cruel and stressful to the kittens, and suuuper greedy of the Cafe.

      • ana

+100 – I agree its super cruel for the poor kittens. Not a fan of this idea at all.

  • Andy

Do they come with recipes? What’s the best wine to serve with kittens?

  • JC

I should’ve been a kitten when I grew up. $200/hr is pretty sweet.

    • andy2

If it is three kittens, then its only $66/hr.

  • anon

Is kitten juggling allowed? Asking for a friend.

  • Blithe

Will there be an upcharge if I ask for the kittens and the cookies to be delivered in separate baskets?

  • Anon

Aside from the absurdity of expecting cats to be happy about being hauled from house to house all day, I think that Crumbs and Whiskers is being awfully cheap about what could otherwise be a good opportunity to show support for a non-profit and garner some goodwill. They should definitely contribute more than 15% of the proceeds to the non-profit, if nothing else.

Counter-idea that’s probably more pleasant for the cats – have petting stations in the city where people can donate to the rescue foundation and pay for a basket of macaroons.

    • WARL – WHS and most rescues – do in fact have “petting stations,” one way or another for people to easily come interact/play with kittens and cats. For young kittens – we WANT socialization! I’ve often posted on neighborhood listserves just to have people come and play with my foster kittens. (For FREE!)
