Banneker Recreation Center will be closed from Tuesday, March 31 until Tuesday, April 28

“The DC Department of Parks and Recreation (DPR) announced the Banneker Recreation Center (2500 Georgia Avenue, NW) will close from Tuesday, March 31 through Tuesday, April 28, 2015 to undergo major maintenance and repair improvements, which include maintenance and/or upgrades to the interior lighting system, new flooring and more. Please note that all scheduled outdoor activities and amenities will not be affected by the renovations.

Scheduled indoor programs, community meetings and activities at Banneker will be temporarily suspended until all maintenance and repair improvement work is completed by the Department of General Services (DGS).

Nearby DPR facilities that offer the same programs/classes available at Banneker include:

Yoga – Monday @ 7:30 pm – 8:30 pm at Kennedy Rec Ctr (1401 7th St., NW)
Zumba – Monday @ 7 pm – 8 pm at Columbia Heights Comm Ctr (1480 Girard St., NW)
Bootcamp – Tu & Th @ 7 pm – 8 pm at Petworth Rec Ctr (801 Taylor St., NW)
Zumba – Tu & Th @ 6 pm – 7 pm at Marie Reed Rec Ctr (2200 Champlain St., NW)
Body Flex – Tu & Th @ 6:30 p – 7:30 pm at Raymond Rec Ctr (3725 10th St., NW)

All outdoor activities and amenities such as the courts, playground, fields and track will be available for normal use. Once all preventive maintenance work is complete, Banneker Recreation Center will resume normal hours of operation. All current and regularly scheduled programs, civic association meetings and activities will resume on their normal days and times once the center re-opens on Tuesday, April 28, 2015.”
