“Dear PoPville,

Today is “Do More 24” in our fair city, initiated by the United Way of the National Capital Area. I know you/PoPville is a multi-neighborhood booster, shouldn’t show favorites, but I’m going to ask anyway:

I live in the splendid neighborhood of Lanier Heights, which is home to Joseph’s House.  I’m sure you’re well aware of their mission:

Joseph’s House offers healing care to homeless men and women dying of AIDS and cancer, providing a depth of physical, emotional and spiritual support that creates the possibility for profound healing and the restoration of individual dignity.

Would it be possible for you to feature the house as House of the Day tomorrow, or Garden of the day, or Garden fixture of the day (it’s all beautiful right now) so as to highlight their mission and possibly aid their campaign?  Their goal this year is to raise $50,000 (last year they raised $30,000).

I’ll be honest, at times I can be beyond jaded like many in PoPville I’m sure, but Joseph’s House absolutely warms the cockles of my heart. Institutions like Joseph’s House, and even the whole “Do More 24” campaign are what make DC great. (not small plates. or even bike lanes).

I know there are numerous worthy organizations seeking support tomorrow, but I just thought I’d throw my hat in the ring for Joseph’s House of Lanier Heights.”

Definitely a worthy recipient! I also throw my support behind the folks at Kenilworth Aquatic Gardens. If you have a favorite feel free to let us know too and hopefully tons of money will be raised today for these great organizations.

For many remote workers, a messy home is distracting.

You’re getting pulled into meetings, and your unread emails keep ticking up. But you can’t focus because pet hair tumbleweeds keep floating across the floor, your desk has a fine layer of dust and you keep your video off in meetings so no one sees the chaos behind you.

It’s no secret a dirty home is distracting and even adds stress to your life. And who has the energy to clean after work? That’s why it’s smart to enlist the help of professionals, like Well-Paid Maids.
