haha – that is one sad door to come home too.

      oops – to

    • textdoc

+1. That’s an awfully bleak photo to have as the lead for the listing.

  • carlosthedwarf

Are you kidding me?! $1500 for that?! You can get a non-basement 1-bedroom in a much more accessible location for $1500. Whoever pays $1500 for that apartment is getting ripped off.

It’s a pretty great location if you’re a Howard student.

      • Petworth dude

        Those aren’t college student-friendly prices.

    • Anonymous

You can? Like where? I thought $1700 or so was the starting price for non-basement 1-bedrooms these days.

Plenty of real 1BRs available for $1500 in older buildings in Glover Park, northern Georgetown, Palisades, Van Ness, etc. Some also occasionally available in CoHi and Shaw.

I’ve lived in a $1250 1 bedroom basement in Tenley and a $1350 1 bedroom basement in Bloomingdale. Now I pay $890 for my room in a 2 bedroom (non basement!!!) in Glover Park

It pays to shop around :)

Wow, that is one hell of a deal! I’m not too familiar with those far west neighborhoods and didn’t realize they were so cheap.

      • Anonymous

I live in a 1 Br half a block from Petworth metro for 1375

          *Non basement

But it’s minutes to shoppes. SHOPPES, I tell you!!

  • Angry Parakeet

The realtor should have hung a festive seasonal wreath on the door.

    • Angry Parakeet

Oh! I just noticed – adding to the presentational charm, the light above the door is just a bare bulb, no globe.

  • monkeydaddy

I think the location can be beat.

I get that comparing 1 beds to 2 beds is comparing apples to oranges. Really, I do. But for this price or very close to it, you could live with a roommate in a 2 bed in a brand new building and get all the amenities that come with it (gym, pool, great common space, concierge etc). I definitely see the appeal of living alone, but if I’m spending $1500, I’ll take a roommate and all of the extra stuff instead of living alone in this sad, sad apartment.

Yup. This is what I have. 2000 sq foot 2BR, 2.5BA two blocks from the U Street metro. My share is $1525.
      .
Whoever rents this is a moron. This location stinks, amenities are still 5-10 years from being what you get in other areas of town, and neighborhood safety issues are numerous.
      .
You can rent 1BR apartments in one of the numerous big old buildings on Q Street in Georgetown (just across from Dupont) for $1400-1600.

I honestly don’t think it’s that bad. If it had better photography many of you might agree. If it were me I’d rather spend the $1700 on a nice studio, but some people want that extra room.

  • textdoc

This strikes me as awfully ambitious pricing. I mean, I’m offering a Park View basement for rent that has much better light (although not as much space) and is half a block from the Metro, and I’m not asking anywhere near that amount.
    .
Seems like you could either spend less and get an as-nice or nicer basement apartment, or spend maybe slightly more and get a non-basement apartment.

  • gloomingdale

I’d just sit on the toilet any time I wanted some natural light. Looks like a gem.

  • teves

Way over priced…. the location is *right* at the stadium. So, it’s really only for a Howard student….

Photos are bleak… but assuming that utilities are included, (does it have a COO?)… I’d say maybe $950 – 1150.

  • figby

Looks like a good place to stash hostages.

  • spookiness

G*d almighty I’m glad I bought my house when I did.

Where is this place in relation to J Bell’s??
