501 Florida Ave, NW

From the Ledroit Park listserv:

“Dear Neighbors,

As you may have heard, changes will be coming soon to the space located at 501 Florida Ave., NW. We recently signed a lease for the space and in a few months we hope to open The Royal, a new neighborhood tavern.

We believe in the importance of establishing a positive relationship with our community/neighbors and are having an open house to meet the members of the community and to answer any questions you may have about The Royal. We invite you to stop by on Sunday, January 26 between 2pm and 4pm. Feel free to contact us (Paul Carlson, paul(at)vinotecadc.com) if you are unable to make it and have questions or concerns, or if you want to provide comments of support.

We look forward to being part of the LeDroit Park neighborhood!
– The Team at The Royal”

Great to see them doing this! Small things go a long way with establishing a solid relationship with the community around them. The Firehouse on North Capitol should have done this…

Of course! Unfortunately that place seems to be run by absolute morons. :-/

more local places should follow this kind of outreach.

    Well that’s nice of them.

i hope this doesn’t backfire. there are people who would be otherwise unaware but might now raise objections.

Showtime did this same thing… and I think it only worked to solidify their base. Generally a smart business move to involve your customers… gives them some small feeling of ownership/builds loyalty.

Good for them. Hope this is a success. Seems like a great spot for a neighborhood tavern.

Sounds great but if you don’t have a liquor license yet, do not serve alcohol at your “Open House”. That’s what caused huge headaches for the original Shaw Tavern owners.
